MY APPROACH

I believe the body and mind are wise, adaptive systems, capable of healing and growth. When distressing symptoms show up, they often reflect survival strategies designed to help us cope. My approach is about uncovering the roots of distress, understanding these responses with compassion, and supporting the system to realign in healthier ways.

To do this, I integrate body and mind, drawing on EMDR, parts work, and systems-informed perspectives. I’ve also developed my own framework—the Relational Needs-Based Approach (RNBA)—which highlights the role of needs, relationships, and perspectives in both distress and healing. This lens runs through all of my work, whether in individual counselling, courses, or group settings.

EMDR (EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING)

An extensively researched therapy shown to be effective for trauma and many other concerns. EMDR helps the brain process and integrate overwhelming experiences, reducing distress and shifting unhelpful patterns—often without needing to revisit every detail.

PARTS WORK

A gentle, collaborative approach that helps bring different aspects of yourself into alignment when they’ve become disconnected or in conflict. The goal is integration—fostering cooperation within yourself so you can access the inner resources already there, building self-compassion and resilience.

TRAUMA-INFORMED

Trauma-informed counselling recognizes that our symptoms and responses are often rooted in how we’ve learned to cope with overwhelming or neglectful experiences. Rather than viewing behaviors as something “wrong,” I see them as adaptive survival strategies.

With a focus on safety, empowerment, and healing, trauma-informed counselling provides a supportive environment where you can explore these responses, build self-understanding, and move toward lasting well-being.

CLIENT-CENTRED

Client-centred therapy is a collaborative approach that views you as the expert of your own life. This approach emphasizes your unique experiences, strengths, and innate ability to make meaningful decisions.

My role is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment that fosters self-discovery, self-acceptance, and personal growth—helping you navigate your path toward well-being and fulfillment.

RELATIONAL AND SYSTEMS-INFORMED

I understand psychological distress in the context of relationships—not only with ourselves, but within the larger systems we’re part of, such as families, communities, workplaces, and culture.

Seeing ourselves within this interconnected web can reveal the roots of current challenges and highlight where change is possible. Thriving in these relational ecosystems is essential for psychological well-being, and our work includes exploring how to navigate them in ways that support both you and your connections with others.

BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER

Each of these approaches supports healing in different ways, and together they create space for deep, lasting change. By integrating them, I can help you uncover the roots of distress, connect with your strengths, and move toward greater well-being.

While one-to-one counselling is at the heart of my work, I also believe in creating ways to support people beyond the counselling room. This includes developing resources, courses, and group opportunities that extend the same principles of healing and growth to a wider community.
